I have got PhD in theoretical condensed matter physics. My research work is about transport in quantum dots and molecular junctions. Of special interest for me is how the electron transport is affected under interactions with phonons and light and also electron-electron interaction. The techniques I have been using so far are non-equilibrium Green’s functions and Master equation approaches.

A person who pursues the truth is always induced by curiosity, so do I. To me, the microscopic world of is fascinating. Everythings are constructed of various atoms. Furthermore, what makes these atoms unique merely depend on the difference in nucleuses and electrons. This information enlightens my vision. Therefore, my curiosity leads me to major in Chemistry. As deeper I dive into, I found that it is not enough to realize the world by the view of chemistry. Physical language and pictures are important as well. Thus, I started my double major, physics, in junior.

I studied ab-initio molecular dynamics and time-frequency analysis at Prof. Jyh-Shing Lin's group and got the Master's and PhD degrees at the Department of Chemistry in Tamkang University. After military service, I joined Prof. Myung Joon Han's group at the Department of Physics in Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) to implement a phonon code in OpenMX and work with Prof.

My name is Jian Lei, I am a PhD student at National Tsinghua University. I grew up in Hubei province in the middle of China. I graduated from Wuhan institute of Technology University, and my major is Chemical Engineering. After learning Chemical basic knowledge, I became interested in physical chemistry so I went to get Master’s degree at Southwestern University. During the graduate student period, I applied a scholarship from National Chiao-Tung University to study in Taiwan under the guidance of Prof. S.H. Lin, and learned a lot knowledge of computational chemistry.

Despite the complexity of nature, I still believe that the mystery can eventually be revealed by the integrative efforts of human intelligence. However, due to the variety of natural species and materials, I prefer dedicating myself to analyzing the problem from the elementary aspect: Chemistry. Fascinated by the delicate structure and the symmetric beauty of natural matters, I am enthusiastic about developing a fundamental law applicable for nature that provides a peaceful coexistence among all species.
